  1. The Efiles date of this photo is August 31, 1938 — The movies playing at the St. Johns theater on this date were “Mr. Moto’s Gamble” & “Saleslady” — the recorded high temp. was 75 degrees & low temp was 50 degrees.

  2. This photo faces north-northwest, where N Philadelphia terminates into N Lombard, and the triangular section left of the crosswalk signs is now St. John’s Plaza. If you google map it, face the plaza clock tower–the 2022 street view is clearest.

  3. St Johns Hardware building has the current address of 8621 N Lombard but in 1938 the address was 8621 N Jersey.
