MacMarr Store, circa 1931

Yesterday’s post featured a MacMarr Store, so we thought we’d show you another one that was located on the corner of NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (Union Ave. at the time) and Shaver St. This building is still standing today.

14th and Broadway, circa 1929

Today we have a photograph from 1929. This image is looking east from 14th Ave on Broadway before the Broadway widening project. You can see Ziegler’s Drug Store and the MacMarr Store, which was a grocery store.

E Burnside & SE 14th Avenue, 1929

Our Number Man probably indicates that an East Burnside street widening project is not too far in the future. The business names have changed at the intersection with SE 14th Avenue but the buildings remain intact today.

Another man holding another number. Perhaps this was to document the sad state of repairs of the curb and street paving along NE Broadway at 11th Avenue in 1929. The East Side Franklin Authorized Service Station referred to the Franklin automobile, manufactured between 1902 and 1934.
