MacMarr Store, circa 1931

Yesterday’s post featured a MacMarr Store, so we thought we’d show you another one that was located on the corner of NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (Union Ave. at the time) and Shaver St. This building is still standing today.

  1. What did they do with all of that product/produce at night? It looks like they are on wheels. Maybe rolled them inside and down the aisles. Or maybe they just covered them? It looks great but it was quite a setup each morning.

  2. Dan,
I’m sure every thing was rolled inside at closing. Remember when gas stations closed at 9 PM and all the tire racks, oil can racks and windshield towels and spray bottle were brought inside-all to keep the honest people honest.

  3. There’s another very similar building at N. Greeley and Jessup. We know that one was designed and built by Charles Ertz as was the one at NE 28th and Broadway. This one on MLK & Shaver – we’re not sure, but seems quite likely to have also been an Ertz project.
