The J.M. Duaim Shoe Shop was located at 3412 N Lombard Street. Next door, at 3414, is the Walnut Park Lumber and Coal Co. A sign in Duaim’s window states “we use leather from contented cows only.”

There’s still a billboard to the left of that building today.

This was my mother’s step-grandfather, Jacob “Jack” Moses Duaim (1883-1971). She loves to tell of his funny sense of humor, particularly with puns (as evidenced by his sign). As far as she can recall, he ran his shoe shop in this building well into the 1950s. He and his wife Cora Ethel are buried at Sunset Hills in southwest Portland.
Cool the building still has the sign brackets where Mr Duaims sign was attached..
Also lucky for the landlord, I wish a Cell Tower were placed on my property $$
So was it the Duaim Shoe Shop or the Glenwood Shoe Shop?
“Glenwood Shoe Shop; DM Duaim, proprietor”
Why was Walnut Park lumber nowhere near Walnut Park?
