  1. This photo was taken at 1:35 pm on what appears to be a partly cloudy, winter day. Some wetness from previous rain can still be made out in gutters and in spots on the roadway.

The driver of the 1969 Chevy Impala is checking cross traffic to the left and his passenger is checking traffic on the right as they approach the stop – a well-co-ordinated pair.

A 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air Coupe like the one parked nearest the stop sign can fetch anywhere from $75k-100k+ in top condition these days or $15k for a project car. There appears to be another Bel-Air parked at the rear of the photo on the right.

That 1968 VW Westfalia Hardtop Camper Van with the bumper guards is a beaut!

I can’t really tell whether the VW Bug in this photo is a 1967 or 1968, as the front bumpers are hidden from view (the bumper design changed in 1968). The hub cap design is another potential clue but making a definitive identification here is difficult – but I think they look more ’68 (newer style) than ’67.

  2. The photos with people in them — especially those from before the 1950’s — are my favorites. (Brian — how did you insert that emoji?)

  3. that vw likely is not a westfalia, nor a camper… the middle windows have a vent. campers usually had jalousies or sliders. it more likely is a ‘kombi station wagon’ which is what vw called the deluxe 9-seater bus. however, there were sunroof busses with camper insides. can’t tell from pic if one of those.
