  1. From looking at Google Maps’ current view, this still looks like a great neighborhood. It’s so good to see houses and landscaping being kept in great shape almost 80 years later!

  2. Posted in comments on more or less the same view in 2013…and still true in 2021. https://goo.gl/maps/J5uSadVyXPPPPapv8

Open the view ***** posted, rotate it right 90 degrees so that you’re looking SW, then zoom in.

The curbstone damage is in pretty much the same state as captured in the 1942 photo at lower right.

  3. I grew up just through the block on 45th in the 40’s. It was a wonderful place to grow up with Mt. Tabor close on one side and Laurelhurst Park close on the other side. Walking to Glencoe grade school each day was fun. The area was full of kids and baseball games in the street and kick the can all other sorts of games. Thank you for this one.

  4. We walked through that neighborhood on Friday for our weekly escape from Sellwood! Bits of Laurelhurst and North Tabor, from Caesar Chavez to 60th and back.

  5. I just realized this is the house that belonged to a family that ended up across the street from me in Beaverton after I was married. The people who lived there would tip my brother if he didn’t break the windows on each side of the door when delivering the newspaper.
