  1. Great story, Mike. If the baby for whom the Shirlee Ann fund was named had choked on a grape after 1974, she could have been saved by use of the Heimlich Maneuver.

  2. I work in healthcare and I am required to update my BLS skills every two years, but I wasn’t aware of the development timelines of these techniques. I had no idea that things were so backward then. 1960 was the year physician’s started learning CPR in the US and neonatal/infant CPR/Heimlich maneuver wasn’t developed until well into the 1980s.
    Naming their emergency vehicle after this unfortunate little girl was a nice gesture to her and her family.
