  1. The Oregonian printed softball schedules in 1948, and the Public Works team was in the Industrial League. Public Works played at these parks. Buckman, Peninsula, Westmoreland, Irving, and Grant.

  2. Oregonian articles from 1948 indicate that there were 164 teams, that were in 21 leagues. Softball play kicked off with a mass opener at Vaughn Street Ballpark in April. Normandale Park was under development in 1948, on the site of the former Electric Steel Foundry on Halsey & 56th.

  3. As a clarification to my last post, Electric Steel Foundry was located between what is now I-84, and the southern edge of Normandale Park.
