The construction of I-405 must have taken out this station.
Strange photo. What happened to whatever was at the left of the station?
A search through the “Historical Oregonian” database for that address yields 8 ads placed between June 23 and October 23, 1949 for used cars sold from it One of them, as an example: “BUICK 1942 Super Four-Door Sedan — Radio and heater. Beautiful light green finish. Very good condition thruout. Initial payment, $245, balance GMAC terms. Full price, $725. 1440 SW Washington Street.”
Perhaps the building was turned into a car dealership? But if so, I wonder why no other “hits” appear in the search results?
What does the extra “P” mean as part of PFD (Portland Fire Department) on the building, “Public”, “Professional”, what?
Looking at the photo again, this Station 3 was probably built for the PPFD.
