At the intersection of 30th and Glisan (by the Laurelthirst tavern) the early sidewalk workers have Glisan spelled correctly on one corner and have it spelled Gleason a few feet away on the other corner.
“No left turn except busses”, busses replaced this Montavilla streetcar track turn to Ankeny ~
I am a native Portlander and I know it should be “Glisten,” but “Gleason” comes to my mouth automatically, and besides, if I said it right it would start a long conversation, every time.
Let’s continue an age old debate. Is it “Glisten” or “Gleason?”

I’ve never heard anything but the latter version in 40plus years of living here.
Brand new Fords belong to Hollywood Ford on Sandy Blvd. Soon to be Harlen Griffith Ford.
The man pronounced it “Glisten”. Everyone calls the street “Glisan”. /end
That Zenner’s van is a ’56 Chevy just like mine, however, it does not exactly look like it is brand new.

The sedan nearest the camera on the right, is a 1948 Buick Roadmaster; a very sweet riding automobile.
