  1. It’s definitely PIR. It’s the front straight/drag strip looking east towards what at one point was the east bank general admission hill. The bleachers along the south side of the front straight would be built along the right side of the photo between the paved path that can be seen to the far right and the right (south) edge of the track.

    And yes, the old streets of Vanport had already been used for racing for some time before this and the front stretch runs along what was Cottonwood Street. Over the years parts of course were altered from the original abandoned roads and new sections (like the S-curves at the west end) were added.
