  1. The red-roofed A-frame style building as I recall was originally a Tastee-Freez ice cream store. There used to be a whole bunch of Tastee-Freezes in Portland, but now the nearest one is in Everett, WA. Many of the distinctive buildings are still around, converted into other fast-food restaurants.

  2. I used to go with my parents to that Fred Meyer store in the early ’70s.
    The big red roof is still there, now a Dairy Queen, it used to be a Tastee Freez until the ’70s or early ’80s. The last operating Tastee Freez in Portland I remember was on Powell and Milwaukee avenue, near the Aladdin Theater.
