  1. This would be before the Depression so I assume (probably inaccurately) that these camps were for brave travelers. I remember, as a kid, traveling across country before the interstates were built but there were roadside motels. We had it easy compared to this era!

  2. Something like this could be built for the houseless. In six months in 1942 we built 9,922 apartments plus many public buildings in Vanport. Also in 6 months in 1942, 1,800 muti-use buildings for 40,000 people were build at Camp Adair north of Corvallis.
