  1. Not sure if they had a fashion show that day but the people, hair, outfits and cars were all 10/10. Probably had some great music going that day too.

  2. wl, I don’t think the door was mis-matched as in a junkyard type mismatch. I think Portland Police cars at some point in the 70’s were white with blue doors (a stylistic mismatch perhaps!).

  3. hilarious.
‘scheib wants HOW much to paint the new fleet? you tell earl the budget is $5 per car and i want all five bucks’ worth!’

  4. Love the shoes, perfect outfits…. I remember hairstyles for those days – that looks like a LOT of work!!

  5. Nice job, MF. I went around the block virtually a few times without spotting that rounded loft window.

  6. @Robert G I went around the block a couple times before noticing the same rounded window! That new house on the corner threw me off! Great photo!

  7. As a Black woman who’s been following this Blog for a few years now….I really love looking at the vintage photos, and seeing Black people in Portland in the 70’s just amazes me 🙂

  8. NICE PHOTO, BUT I THINK THOSE TWO LADIES NEED TO GET BIGGER HAIR!
BUT THEN, THEY SAY THAT BIG HAIR GETS YOU CLOSER TO GOD.

  9. On the subject of the police car door that is the scheme in those days. Notice the medallion on the door..

  10. I’m told by someone who lived in the neighborhood during that time, that the lady on the right is named Sharon Kizer. She’s about 17/18 in this pic.
