  1. I thought it was going to be great fun to watch people figure out where the photo was taken based on the building in the background but then saw this on efiles ” photo was taken at SW Park and Madison streets with the First Congregational Church in the background ” Oh well.

  2. Agree with Susan. The native North West Basalt is such an iconic Portland building material that it is a shame to allow it to be covered with vegetation. The basalt as shown here in Steve’s post demonstrates such a high degree of craftsmanship both in quarrying and masonry. One hopes that this structure has been earthquake reinforced. Be a tragedy to lose it.
