  1. I see Chevy Impalas, VW Bugs, Fords, etc. But what catches my eye is the ’56 Lincoln Continental and the ’68 Dodge Charger.

  2. Sears didn’t move. It was always north of Sullivan’s Gulch. The sign we’re seeing had a big arrow pointing toward Sears.

  3. It really makes you realize how much nicer our city is with all the trees we have now. I’d be interested to see aerial photos comparing Portland from the ’50’s-70’s to today. I bet there is a huge difference in the tree coverage.

  4. Mark — you can find aerial photos by typing the word “aerial” into the search box at the top of this page. There’s also a “coffee table” book of such photos — I saw it at Powell’s last week but didn’t jot down the title. Maybe another VP reader knows it.
