  1. The view today…
I took the 2nd to the most recent Google view because it puts you on the right side of the street. This was taken in July 2014.

  2. Hmmm.. Looks like Google didn’t respect the time setting when displayed in an iframe. We got the September 2014 view instead, but you can click on the “View in Google Maps” link and adjust the time there.

  3. In the far distance on the left (west) side of Division you can see a line of what looks like tall poles. Into the late 1950s there was a golf driving range at this point and these poles, or ones like them, had nets strung between them to protect traffic on 82nd from errant balls.

  4. That is slab wood that is stacked by the tree…it was used in furnaces back in the day. Lots of pics showing this in NW Portland thus the Slabtown moniker. Usually when they made all those telephone poles this was the wood planed off of them.

  5. I’d forgotten about those nets from the driving ranges…I always wondered what happened when someone would try to send one over the net…just to be obnoxious!

And all the fireworks stands at certain times of the year…available at the “edge” of town…way out in the “middle of nowhere”…and such a long, long way to drive!
