This 1917 view is to the southwest, looking at the 14th and Burnside corner. This building was demolished for the stadium freeway which today passes under Burnside at this point. I had this confused with the hotel on SW Park and Alder. Trying to come up with the name also started witha C I believe.
By 1953 the Carlton was at least partly residential. In that year my sister and I went there for our weekly French lessons with Miss Gibson, who had a very nice apartment. And the Carlton coffee shop made a delicious pea soup.
