The days of horse-drawn fire apparatus were nearing an end when this 1915 photo in front of Fire Station 16 was taken. Drive by the building at 1436 SW Montgomery St.; it still looks much the same today, minus the horses.

In Brooks Oregon during their annul “steam up” the last weekend of July and first weekend in August, there is often a working steam powered fire wagon like in this photo. Sometime 2 show up but I believe only one of them works. They usually set up in the future fire museum area of the park.
I’ve always wanted to go to that steam up but I always manage to miss it somehow.
