Westmoreland Park

Drive down SE McLoughlin Blvd today and you’ll be in a virtual tunnel created by the canopy of giant oak trees arching over the road. Those trees were just planted when this 1936 aerial photo was taken. The WPA built the casting pond (upper left) among other amenities.

  1. I thought these trees were Maples, I’m sure they are not Oaks. Earlier photos show them as just planted in 1937 and Westmoreland Park a pasture with cows. When this becomes six lanes we will lose a a beautiful stretch of road..
