  1. My dad pulled guard duty there during WW2 at night, and produced lenses for the Nordem Bomb sights during the day. I don’t know when he slept.

  2. Tex Rankin used the Swan Island field before Portland took it over about 1930, he then moved to an area on Union Avenue north of Columbia Blvd

  3. I cannot imagine why but the first project of the then new Corps of Engineers was to decide which side of Swan to make the channel, it would have made a bad jog on the east side.
