Snow in Portland, 1917

Portland got hit by a surprise snow storm yesterday. I wonder if NE 19th and Weidler looks anything like this 1917 photo.

My brother and I both doubt that this photo was taken at NE 19th and Weidler. The homes are too close to the sidewalk, and none resembles those present now or present from about 1950. The terrain does not match, either. The building in the center background looks like a school. There appears to be a tall structure, perhaps under construction, blocking a view of more of the school(?) building. It would be great to hear from someone who recognizes this street!

Sorry; I skipped part of my pre-written reply. The tower(?), or perhaps construction scaffold, under construction appears behind the leftmost power pole in the photo. It must be 40 or more feet tall.

Another one of our patented ‘silver thaws’. Bummer on the poles and branches, man!
